What is a Wellness Summit?
This marks our fourth year, offering an online venue for students to learn about and reflect on their health. The summit's purpose is to encourage students to think about their current lives, habits, and overall well-being. The sessions focus on building resiliency and learning through lived experiences to foster empathy.

Over the years, we have welcomed students from all over Alberta, primarily online students, to participate in sessions dedicated to their wellness. Some sessions are interactive, while others are presentation-based, utilizing Zoom to allow students to provide reactions and text responses. Each session lasts for 60 minutes and concludes with an evaluation of the presenter.

The topics of the presentations are clearly labelled, so students know what to expect. Some subjects may be sensitive in nature, and the level of maturity required can vary. Each student is encouraged to choose the session that best suits their needs.

Some sessions focus on practical strategies, such as overcoming procrastination or understanding ADHD and its benefits. The goal is for students to select spaces that align with their current experiences and preferences.

We believe that youth need two main elements to develop resiliency: first, a positive and loving relationship in which they can find security and support, and second, the skills of resiliency, which involve understanding the nuances of neuroscience, human behaviour, and the impacts of habit formation.
